Allowance Time

The girls are almost ready to turn 5 years old. Did I just type that?! FIVE. Can you believe it?! Because we can not! FIVE is a big deal. With FIVE comes responsibilities. FIVE is halfway to 10. And TEN is more than halfway to leaving the parental nest. It is never too early to teach responsibilities, right? Chores, allowance, savings. These kids need to be level-headed, after all! So, we've begun the allowance process. The girls have been given a chart with 3 chores to be completed each day. Make your bed, set the dinner table, put away your toys before going to bed. To complete these tasks means they each earn $3 per week. They are so excited! "What will we DO with all this money, mommy?!" In fact, when their grandparents asked that same question, they made me proud by saying, "save some and spend some!" Maybe these lessons will be easier taught than expected.

They were super excited to get up this morning and make their own beds! They've made their beds before, but always with mommy or daddy's help. Today, they conquered it on their own. And I think they did a wonderful job!
